Fall is always a busy time of the year for us. The Broadway season begins. Hockey season started a week ago. Unfortunately, the Aeros had lost every game we attended.
Today, Jose and Alma are having a housewarming. We completely missed the dirt road leading to their house at Pasadena. But even when we parked, we weren't sure that we were at the right place. Jose's old white pickup was parked before a small World War 2 hangar used as a garage, but no one was in sight nor were there many cars. I can see the barbecue smoker that Jose won in a raffle when we were at Link and I can hear the Aggie game on the radio. But where was everyone? I can see someone pulling out a shotgun if we were at the wrong house.
We call out. No answer. We're about to leave when Clarissa and Jose comes running of the house. Jose slices up some for brisket for us and heaps potato salad on our plate. Luis was already there along with some people we didn't know. We barely sat down to eat with Alma when I see Jose giving the royal tour so we join them.
The house had been built around the front door. It was made of steel and came from Mexico. The house was made of steel and the interior walls could be changed at will. It was a fairly new house, but the couple filed for support so they sold the dream house that they designed. But the house was also Jose's dream house. It had a porch in both the front and rear of the house. The porch had a tin roof. The property also had a well but the water was red coming out.
An old house is also on the property and would be perfect for a haunted house. Alma said that she'll have to shop after Halloween to get decorations.
Jose lets Luis and I drive his zero turn lawnmower. It's like driving a tank. You press both handles forward and you go forward. Pull the left one back and it turns left. If you pull both back, you reverse. To come to a complete stop, you push the levers outward. Luis didn't watch as I was driving it around since he crashed the lawnmower into Jose's old pickup but neither vehicle was damaged.
After Mary and I finally finished our meal, Mary, Jose, Luis, Clarissa and myself take a ride around the nearby subdivision in his golf cart. Jose let me drive.
Jose had been smoking brisket all day. Before we left, he gave both Luis and ourselves half a brisket each.
As we were leaving, Brian called. He was returning from the renfest with Fabian. This was the last year that Fabian could go for free. They didn't go in garb though.
Tonight, we also have an invitation to Pete's house for Game Night. He had one last year. Rick, Jim and Rich were already there when we arrived. Rick and Jim had seen Brian at the renfest. Any game was fair game so to speak. Mary showed us how to play Spoons then we played Hearts.
